Visiting the Capitol

One of Benson's Cub Scout requirements was to visit a government building, so I thought it would be fun to take the kids up to the Utah State Capitol Building. I really only expected to walk around outside and take some pictures but we ended up going inside and it was so amazing. I didn't even know we were allowed inside but we got to see some really neat stuff! It is such a beautiful building and I love the blossoms in the spring!!

The capitol is up on a hill just above Temple Square and has some amazing views of the city.

Gotta love the giant marble lions

The House of Representatives

The kids thought it was so cool that a few months ago Byron sat in the balcony when he came to the capitol to sit in on some Rx legislation.

The "Gold Room" - used for dinners and receptions back in the day

Benson making his presidential speech

Lots of neat murals in the rotunda

View of the domed ceiling

Always fun to see names of our pioneer ancestors :)

You are the best mom ever! Maybe when Brigg starts scouts I will pick up the slack.
