Hot Tamale {Mexican} Train

Tanner paid us a visit last week while he was up here for spring break. We had a great time, which began with some chips and homemade salsa and my new favorite enchiladas (found here). Then we all played some football out front until it got too chilly, but not for Clark, who was in a tshirt and bare feet..typical. So we got out the dominos for an exciting game of Mexican train. I remembered my weak moment on the candy aisle earlier that day and busted out the Hot Tamales to make for a new game, Hot Tamale {Mexican} Train! (Any other SYTYCD fans out there?) Anyways, we had a great time with Uncle Tan Man and can't wait for him to move up here this summer for school. Hopefully his social life will allow us to still see him once in a while!
I let Paige pick out some bandaids for her forehead and much to my suprise she passed up Princess and Hello Kitty for these Scooby Doo band aids. Her stitches came out last Saturday and it is still taped up to keep it protected, but the cut is healing up just fine.

All fun and games until...

Today Byron had the day off of school, so being the awesome parents that we are (haha), we checked the kids out of school early to go sledding. All in the name of good "wholesome recreational activity," right? Looks fun enough...

Not even halfway down her first run with dad the sled catches on something under the snow and Paige ends up with a nice gash on her forehead. Some tears, blood, promises of new toys, a record breaking 1 hour in and out trip to the ER and about 7 stitches later, here is our girl. She was SO brave! She only winced a little when they shot her up with the numbing stuff. I was very proud of her! Especially since we had major drama just a few months ago just getting her onto the scale for her well visit.

We went straight from the hospital to pick out a new toy and this is the puppy she chose. The boys even scored a new football and Paige's sweet friend brought over a new Barbie and some ice cream. And I know the boys are going to be jealous of her scar... the cut looks like a little lightning bolt...a perfect Harry Potter! We are so glad it was nothing more serious and that our little princess is still smiling!

Love you Paigee Pie!

Spring? Or not?

So Friday I was all set to write about how it was such a beautiful day outside and we got to enjoy playing with the kids out front, eating ice cream cones on the porch, playing football and rollerblading around the neighborhood.... I even spotted some green stuff pushing its way up through the cold hard ground! It may look like a weed, but to me it is a sign that spring is on its way, and I can't wait to feel some sunshine on my skin! Anyways, that would have been a great post, but then the very next day it snowed ALL DAY LONG!! It hasn't snowed this much since Christmas, so it was fun and exciting, but still it is March, right? Tonight we took a drive and not 10 minutes away from our house we drove by houses with over 3 feet of snow in their driveways. Luckily we are down in the valley and all our snow has already melted, but it was pretty wild driving around up on the mountain! And the weatherman promised a few 60 degree days this week, so that will be very nice! I think spring is my new favorite season!!
On a side note, I bought Bailey a little sippy cup and I think she looks so big holding it all by herself and drinking from it. Gotta love the sleeping in the high chair pics...she had just had enough! Sweet girl!!

Scary Harry

A few weeks ago Byron and I had a little Harry Potter marathon because he wanted to watch them all again before he saw the one that recently came out. Benson begged me to let him watch them but after the first 2 they get a little scary. They started watching what I thought was the 2nd one, but turned out to be the 3rd, so it when I saw them sitting like this I decided it was time to turn if off (but not after a picture to use as blackmail, of course). And when I would ask them if it was too scary and if I should fast forward it they would sit up and say, "No, it's not scary!" Sure enough before long Benson's arms were wrapped back around Clark, who really didn't seem affected by any of it! I love the progression of the pictures above....so funny!

And here is more proof of our Harry Potter phase over here.... Gotta love washable markers, right?! Atleast they checked for that first! Smart kids!

Origami

Benson has been busy folding lots of origami animals! My favorite is the giraffe and the horse that does flips and lands back on its feet.
