MOAB!

Friday morning we woke up and decided to take a spur of the moment overnight trip to Moab. All the hotels we called were booked until I called the Apache Motel and found a family suite for half the price of the single rooms at the other hotels. We held our breath as we pulled up to the hotel, but it worked out perfect for our family; older but clean with plenty of room for all of us. And John Wayne stayed there, so that was cool too!

A block down from our motel was this great little burger joint. Mmmm!On the way we all tried to do this pencil trick with our lips to pass the time. It made us laugh. :)

It happened to be Bailey's first birthday and I'm sure spending 4 hours strapped in her car seat was not how she planned to spend her big day, but I think she enjoyed the trip too, and her birthday cake dive will come next week when grandma gets here!
I'm posting these in parts since I have so many pictures, but we had a wonderful trip and I would recommend a visit to Moab to anyone. It was great to feel some hot desert sun on my skin and drive through miles and miles of rocks and dirt. Seriously, I felt right at home!

Once we got settled in at the motel we headed off to Arches National Park to do some exploring. The first hike we went on was to see Delicate Arch. It was so windy it was even a little scary, but it was a neat hike.

Owlets

My boys have really been into birds lately, so we were very excited to see this Great Horned Owl and her chicks in the side of the cliff near the waterfalls as we walked along the trail above. It was so neat to be able to see them so close!

More Tulips

Sorry, I just can't help myself :) Paige and her friend Paige
(She lives 2 doors down and their bdays are only a month apart. I think they even kind of look alike too!)

Tulip Festival

A few weeks ago we went to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point. I've already been back twice since then (one of the joys of having a membership). It is so beautiful and pictures do this no justice, but anyone who is here during April/May should definitely make the trip to see the tulips. They are breath taking!!

Farm Animals

After the tulips we went over to see the baby animals at the farm.
This little colt was barely even able to stand up. Its hair was still matted and his legs were so wobbly. The employee we talked to said it was born around noon on the day we were there, so it was just a few hours old. Sweet. This cow is one of our favorites. He has a LONG tongue and likes to nibble on everything it can reach!Wiiiiilllll-burrrrr

Not too sure about the wording on this sign... "Unauthorized rabbits will be disposed of immediately"?? There was a baseball bat right next to the cage. Ha, only kidding!

Music Recital

We have been doing a music class the past few months with Clark and Paige and some of the kids in the neighborhood. This is the recital we had last week to show off what we'd learned.

Paige and her best bud Alivia
During one of the songs Paige was accidentally hit by her neighbor during some over excited clapping. She fell apart and spent the rest of the recital face down in my lap. The rest of us didn't miss a beat...the show must go on, right? And what would a recital for 3 year olds be without a little drama anyways!
